José Luis Gomez Miranda brokes the race after the start and decided to try a great adventure of riding escaped the whole stage. Ramón Sagués followed him a minute away at kilometer 21 and the group of the leader, Josep Betalú, was; at kilometer 40 the distance he lost with respect to the first classified was already nine minutes.
This fourth stage has been perfect for navigation. Lots of cyclists have left the original track to find shortcuts. Bou tried it several times, and also Sagués and Tamayo ... but in all cases the attempts have been unsuccessful and “Selu” rided most of the stage alone. This victory arranges the first three stages of the race, in which Gome Miranda suffers a lot of problems.
The leader, Josep Betalú, made an incredible final of the stage when he realized that he had his main rivals behind him. He arrived less than three minutes later than Miranda and increases his advantatge in the leaderboard. He’s now the leader of the race 12'22"in front Guillem Muñoz and Moisés Dueñas, who participates in this Titan without mechanical or physiotherapy assistance.
The forth stage has not influence in the overall classification. The leader, Ramona Gabriel, and the second classified and main rival for the final victory, Anna Ramírez, have pushed hard together from the start line till the finish. They have ridded together during 95 kilometers and Ramírez has been, as happened yesterday, the winner in the final sprint to cross the finish line first. Now both have two victories in the Gaes Titan Desert by Garmin 2018 o and the time that separates them is the same five minutes and twenty-seven seconds. Tomorrow could be the key day.
The riders will face tomorrow one of the most special stages, the Garmin Stage, in which the organization does not provide any tracks, but there are mandatory waypoints and riders must use the navigation to cross it in the shortest possible time. As a novelty in this edition the first 20 men and 3 first women will start the stage alone and separated by 30 seconds. There will also be a time bonus of 90, 60 and 30 seconds for the first three riders of the stage.
José Luis López Miranda: "Until today I have not had much luck. I had mechanical problems and today my intention was to try something different. I've started with Ramon Sagués, but I've seen that I was sronger and I took a risk because I knew that ride alone was very difficult. I have been very concentrated and also I trust in my preparation during all these months. It has been a brave decision but sometimes is necessary to take some risk”.
Anna Ramírez: " I feel more comfortable and strong every day. Today I took the initiative and I was able to maintain my rhythm. The stage has been difficult because the first dunes have arrived, but I feel comfortable in this terrain. Tomorrow is a navigation stage and it will be very important to maintain the concentration. I like to navigate through the desert so I want to do it well. Anyway, the Titan doesn’t finish tomorrow and the last stage is also very long and everything could happen so this Titan will not be decided tomorrow ".
