The 15th edition of the Titan Desert will be held from November 2 to 6 of 2020. Due to its logistical complexity, a technical scrutineering day will be held, compulsory for all participants and assistance services on Sunday, 1 November.

The enrolment period for assistance services to the race starts on October 24th, 2020 and remains open until November 5th, 2020.

THE PRICE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING SERVICES

  • Accommodation: 5 nights in hotel and camps, full board. From November 1 to November 6 – Breakfast on November1 and dinner on November 6 are not included.
  • Compressed air will be available for bike maintenance. it is provided by the organization and shared with the other participants and workers.
  • Transfers between camps by bus or minibus.
  • 1 mechanic's chest (80x45x35cm) for materials and transfer of the chest between camps (except the marathon stage). Maximum weight 30kg/chest
  • Transport of material from the organization’s warehouse in Barcelona to Almeria (and return).
  • Medical and nursing service during the days of the event.
  • 5 bottles of water* (1.5 liters each). *Water not available on November 1.
  • 1 exclusive T-shirt for the race.

*VEHICLE BADGE for ASSISTANCE SERVICES:

  • Allows entry of the vehicle to camps and parking areas.
  • We recommend that the assistance vehicles should be four-wheel drive or high vehicles to ensure access to the camps
  • Articulated vehicles and those longer than 7 meters will not be allowed access to the camps.
  • The people travelling in the vehicle must be accredited/enrolled.

  • The full payment of the enrolment fee can be made upon registration.
  • The payment schedule must be observed.

TRANSFER OF MATERIALS TO ALMERIA

The organization transfers the materials required (tools, spare parts, stretchers, etc.…) from Barcelona to Almeria by road in trucks.

Each mechanic is entitled to a metal chest provided by the organization to carry his/her materials (this is the only box that can be loaded in the organization's truck, both for the trip to Almeria and for transfers from camp to camp).

Physiotherapists may deliver their stretchers (correctly packed), in which they can include other materials they need to work in Almeria (this will be the only package of material they can take to Almeria and between camps).

The weight limit for materials of assistance services will be 30 kg/metal chest or 20 kg/cardboard box. If this weight is exceeded, another box will have to be contracted (see prices).

*In the case of transport of wheel rims and frames, they must travel in rigid boxes. Single units or units packed in cardboard boxes will not be accepted. Transfers are complicated due to the terrain crossed by the trucks. The organization will not be held liable for any deterioration of materials that may occur.

During October 2020, all assistance services and participants with their bicycles must send their equipment to the Titan Desert warehouse in Barcelona. Likewise, mechanics should come in advance to get their metal case or request the organization to send it (freight collect).

TRAVEL TO ALMERIA

You can reach the starting point by your own means, either by road or on a scheduled flight. Several airlines fly from Europe to Almeria, from where you will need to travel by road to the starting point of the race. For more travel options, visit the website of Aventurismo (www.aventurismo.es)

For assistance services that wish to travel in their own vehicles, the organization recommends the use of 4x4 vehicles or those that are high off the ground. The camps are always far from tarmac roads and you must consider that, in the event of rain, it is highly likely that access to the camps would be impossible if not by 4x4 vehicles. You also need to get an assistance service badge (see prices) to access the information on the location of the camps and the access roads to them, in the area set aside for these vehicles. A vinyl strip will be placed by the organization on vehicles with an assistance service badge for identification purposes.

On arrival in Almeria, accredited vehicles can enter the camp following authorization from the organization. Once the vehicle is inside the camp, it cannot move until the first camp is disassembled.

TRANSFER BETWEEN CAMPS

The race organizers arrange the transfer of assistance service teams from camp to camp in a minibus, bus or 4x4. This means you can travel with your own luggage in the transfer (1 bag per person with personal effects, maximum weight 23 kg). These vehicles do not follow the route of the stage, they use the nearest tracks and roads that offer the most direct route from camp to camp.

Starting times from a camp are done once the logistics teams have collected all their material. That is when the convoy leaves for the next camp. Vehicles with an assistance service badge can leave and travel freely under their own responsibility, but in no circumstances may they set up in a camp without the prior authorization and location of personnel from the organization. The distribution of assistance service vehicles is never done before the arrival of the transport vehicles that carry the assistance services to the camps.

TRANSPORT OF MATERIALS DURING THE RACE

The race organization transports one box per assistance service by truck (a metal box in the case of mechanics and a box or sleeve with a stretcher for the physiotherapists). Every night up to 22:00, or early in the morning before the race starts, the assistance services deposit the box in the allocated truck located in the camp and will find it in the same area on arrival in the next camp. There is no access to this box during the stages, only on arrival at the camps. The organization is not liable for the material that the assistance services do not deposit in the truck during the night.

WORK AREA

The assistance services will find two areas in the camps, differentiated for mechanical assistance services and physiotherapy.

WORKSPACE FOR ASSISTANCE SERVICES WHO BRING THEIR OWN TENTS

They may occupy a frontal space of a maximum of 6 meters and must be aligned with the tents of the organization. They can increase their area at the rear up to 10 meters, provided that the terrain allows it, although never in the front part.

Vehicles will be parked behind or at the side of the tent. No access to the camps will be permitted to articulated vehicles and those over 7 meters long. Before October 9, 2020 you must inform the organization of the number of tents you till take - and their measurements - so that they can be incorporated into the camp plan.

You may not work outside the space occupied by your tent. You must also observe the rules regarding advertising. The measurements of the identification of the service can be exceeded, but without advertising other brands in the work area, only on clothes and materials (and never brands that are competitors to the sponsors of the race).

RULES FOR THE PLACING OF ADVERTISING

In general, it is completely prohibited to advertise any commercial brand that is a direct competitor of the companies that sponsor the event. It is also prohibited to advertise any other sports competition in any of the shared areas of the camps or hotels.

COMMON TENTS OF THE ORGANISATION FOR PHYSIOTHERAPISTS

 

A company that offers the service can decorate the walls of its tent with its brand image (no commercial logos of other brands) and 2 banners. No other kind of advertising material can be placed outside the tent.

When mechanics or physiotherapists of different companies are working together in a tent, they should agree to the placing of advertising materials and banners. In the event of a dispute, the organization will not allow any element to be displayed until agreement has been reached.

TENT OR PRIVATE SPACE FOR MECHANICS

Companies can decorate the walls of the tent with brand image and commercial logos, provided that the size of the brand logos is not greater than that of the lead company, plus 2 banners. No advertising may be placed outside the space.

The carrying out of any product exhibition is completely prohibited.

Companies are obliged to notify the organization of the size of the tents, and of the vehicle they will use to help services before October 9, 2020.

USE OF WATER IN CAMPS

The collection of water in the camps to wash bicycles, parts, cycling jerseys, etc. is completely prohibited.

A bicycle washing service will be made available at the end of each stage in a hotel (to be confirmed in each edition) by the organization. Each participant or assistance service must come with their bicycle, no bike will be collected if it is not brought by someone responsible for it.

In no cases will hose connections to the water network be allowed.

Any assistance services that brings a cleaning system with it must ensure that the water used does not create puddles of stagnant water.

CLOTHING

On the dates the race is programmed, temperatures range between 12ºC (minimum) and 19ºC (maximum).

MEDICAL SERVICE

The race has a specialist team of doctors and assistants who will attend all groups during the race and in the camps.

Standard medical care is available from 06:00-22:00, and emergencies 24 hours.

 CURRENT DURING THE RACE

To purchase extra drinks in the bars of the camp and hotels you can buy “Titanitos” vouchers in the ‘service to participants’ tent (the "Titanitos" will be paid for in Euros).

The camps are the nerve centers of the Titan Desert. In them, participants and assistance services will find all the logistics infrastructure they need after the stages: Bike parking zone, restaurant-dining area, bar, tents to sleep, washbasins and showers, as well as areas for the mechanical assistance services or physiotherapists.

ACCOMMODATION

On race days, assistance services will sleep in hotels or tents, depending on the location and the needs of the event.

The tents in the camps can accommodate three people, with mattresses and pillows, so it is necessary to bring sleeping bags.

FOOD AND DRINK

All meals during the 6 race days are included in the price. In the camps, there will be a meal tent with a breakfast buffet, lunch, and dinner on race days. During the arrival and scrutineering day breakfast is not included, nor is dinner on day of return.

Drinks in hotels and camps are not included in the price. The organization provides the assistance services with vouchers to purchase 5 bottles of water. These bottles will be handed out in the water tent during the race at 07:00 and 22:00. On the day of the last stage they will only be handed out until the last participant crosses the finish line.

The TITAN diet has been prepared by experts in nutrition. It consists of varied and nutritional foods that are rich in carbohydrates. Vegetables, cereals, pasta, rice... everything that competitors need to get through the hard race days. The assistance services will have the same buffet as the participants, and at the same times.

*All assistance services must follow the same meals timetable as the participants; mechanics and physios must adapt to this timetable.

Any shop/workshop, consultancy or freelancer may offer services to the participants through the official website of the Titan Desert. In the “ASISTENCIAS” section of the website there will be a list with the names, telephone numbers, emails, and contact website. There may also be a logo or photo that accompanies the contact details.

From there, participants will contact the service directly to request prices, a description of the service, or contract it. Payment is done directly between the participant and the service.

To publish data on the official race website, send the organization comprehensive contact information (name, email, telephone number and service website) and a logo or image to identify oneself. You will also have to pay a fee of €100 to appear in the list (unless it is the official shop of the event).
